Export iPhone contacts to Excel
Apple exports contacts as vCard (.vcf), not as a spreadsheet. Two steps get you an Excel list.

1. Get a VCF of your contacts
- iCloud.com (computer): Contacts › select all (Ctrl/Cmd+A) › gear or share menu › Export vCard.
- On the iPhone (iOS 16+): Contacts › Lists › long-press “All Contacts” (or a list) › Export. Save or send the .vcf to your computer.
- Mac Contacts app: select all › File › Export › Export vCard.
2. Convert to Excel
Open the .vcf in Cardmend and export Excel (.xlsx) or CSV: one row per contact with names, all phone numbers and emails (with their labels), addresses, company, birthday and notes. Optionally normalise phone numbers first and review duplicates.
Why not open the VCF in Excel directly?
Excel opens a .vcf as text lines (TEL;type=CELL:…), one property per row – not one contact per row – and garbles non-Latin text from old vCard 2.1 files.
Fix your contact file in the browser. Cardmend converts contacts between vCard (.vcf 2.1/3.0/4.0), Excel and CSV (Google, Outlook, generic), merges duplicates with a review screen, normalises phone numbers and splits or joins VCF files – in your browser, nothing is uploaded. Preview, duplicate review and phone check are free for the whole file; exports are free up to 50 contacts, and a $9 lifetime license removes the limit.
Questions and answers
Are photos exported to Excel?
Not into cells. Photos stay in the VCF; Cardmend keeps them when you export back to VCF.
Can I export only some contacts?
Yes – on the iPhone (iOS 16+), export a single contact list instead of All Contacts.
