One column per number
Most converters squeeze all numbers into one cell or keep only the first one. Cardmend writes Phone 1, Phone 2 … with their type (mobile, home, work, or the iPhone custom label) so you can sort and filter in Excel.
Every vCard version
vCard 2.1 from older Android phones and Outlook, 3.0 from iPhone, iCloud and Google, and 4.0. Quoted-printable text, folded lines and old character sets are decoded, so names with accents, Hebrew or Arabic stay readable.
Excel or CSV
Choose Excel (.xlsx), a UTF-8 CSV with commas, or a semicolon CSV for Excel in many European countries. Cells that start with = + - or @ are protected so they are not run as formulas; phone numbers stay as typed.
How it works
- Export your contacts as a vCard (.vcf) or CSV file from your phone, Google Contacts, iCloud or Outlook.
- Open the file in Cardmend. It is read on your device and is not uploaded.
- Fix phone numbers, review and merge duplicates, then download vCard, CSV or Excel.
What you get
Stays on your device
There is no server behind the converter, and the page's security policy blocks every network connection. You can turn off Wi-Fi after it opens.
Reads messy vCards
vCard 2.1, 3.0 and 4.0, quoted-printable text, folded lines, old character sets, photos, several phones and e-mails per person, iPhone custom labels.
Duplicates you can review
Groups are found by phone, e-mail and similar names. You see each group and choose which ones to merge and which name to keep.
Phone numbers in E.164
Numbers are checked with Google's phone number metadata and can be exported as +972521234567, in international or in national format.
Google, Outlook and Excel
Exports Google Contacts CSV, Outlook CSV, a clean CSV with one column per number, and Excel. Imports the same, plus any CSV with column matching.
Hebrew, Arabic and accents
Right-to-left names, niqqud and tashkeel, windows-1255/1256 files and UTF-8 come out readable, not as question marks.
Good to know
- Cardmend works with files. It does not sign in to Google, iCloud or Outlook: you export and import the file there yourself.
- Duplicate groups are suggestions. Similar names can belong to different people, so check each group before merging, and keep your original export.
- Photos are kept in vCard exports. CSV and Excel only mark whether a contact has a photo. Old .xls files and iCloud contact groups are not supported.
Questions
Why are names garbled when I open a .vcf in Excel?
Excel does not understand vCard encoding. Cardmend decodes quoted-printable and character sets first, then writes a proper spreadsheet.
Are contact photos kept?
In the spreadsheet a Photo column says whether a contact has one. If you convert back to vCard, the photos are kept.
Are my contacts uploaded?
No. Cardmend runs in your browser. The converter page is not allowed to send data anywhere, and it keeps working offline.
What does it cost?
Opening files, checking duplicates and fixing numbers is free for all your contacts, and you can export up to 50 contacts. A lifetime key costs $9, paid once.
Which files can I open?
vCard (.vcf) from iPhone, iCloud, Android, Google, Outlook and older phones; Google and Outlook CSV; and any CSV or Excel .xlsx file, where you match the columns.
